Providing free peer support to survivors of stroke, their carers and those at medical risk of stroke.
Support offered includes support from other stroke survivors and carers.

TORBAY STROKE SUPPORT HUB

A weekly peer support and information drop-in for stroke survivors, carers and those at risk. This group is, for many attendees, a first stop after stoke. It aims to help build confidence, share knowledge and understanding in a group session. Guest speakers help educate and inform as well as signpost opportunities that help recovery and communication. Free. Open to all. Coffee/ tea is available at the library cafe for those who want to stay.

WHERE? – Paignton Library (Room 13. Full access for disabilities)
WHEN? – Every Monday 11am for 1 hour

Torbay Stroke Support Peer Support Group For Women

A weekly group who meet to chat and socialise. This group is focussed on working age women who have had a stroke who meet to share experiences and stories in a relaxed, informal, mutually supportive setting. Free. Refreshments, if required, are charged for by the hotel.

WHERE? – The Palace Hotel Paignton bar area. Excellent access
WHEN? – Every Tuesday for 2 hours between 10.30am – 12.30pm

Torbay Stroke Support Survivors and Carers Group

A weekly small group who meet to discuss stroke matters. This group is focussed on supporting those for whom bigger groups would be off-putting. Peer led by those who have have had a stroke. Free. Refreshments are charged for by the hotel.

WHERE? – The Grand Hotel bar area. Excellent access
WHEN? – Every Tuesday 11am – 12 noon

Torbay Stroke Support Peer Support Group For Men

A weekly group who meet to chat and socialise. This group is focussed on working age men who have had a stroke who meet to share experiences and stories in a relaxed, informal, mutually supportive setting. Free. Refreshments, if required, are charged for by the hotel.

Torbay Stroke Support Computer Group

A weekly group where the focus is on offering computer based support. Attendees can receive help with accessing the internet, locating forms, sending e mails etc. Skills that may have been lost post stroke can be relearned. Free.

WHERE? – Paignton Library ( ITSuite- Full access for disabilities)
WHEN? – Every Thursday between 1pm -3pm

Stroke City Torbay: Stroke Walking Football

Physical and social therapy to help movement and well being. This is a slower version of football for fun and exercise. The group is open to all. Herald Express nominees team of the year.

WHERE? – Paignton Community School, by Paignton Zoo. Disabled access is available
WHEN? – Every Friday 4.45pm – 6pm
